Established in 1982, Kings Chorale continues to remain true to its original mandate – being a non-auditioned choir that welcomes everyone regardless of skill level or experience. Most people read music but not all. The only requirements for membership are the love of singing and the willingness to work hard to make music together.
Aristotle said, “The whole is greater than the sum of the parts.” There is power that comes from a group of people getting together to sing, where average singers are able to soar vocally and musically to heights much greater than any individual.
The choir continues to be a member in good standing of the Nova Scotia Choral Federation and a supporter of Choral Canada. There have been some great adventures along the way. We have sung some major choral works with Symphony Nova Scotia, the Nova Scotia Youth Orchestra, the Acadia University Wind Ensemble, and the Annapolis Big Band. The choir has participated in the Halifax Jazz Festival. Some members of the choir have travelled to Germany to participate in Europa Cantat. Several times groups from the choir have travelled to New York to sing in Avery Fisher Hall in Lincoln Center and at Carnegie Hall.
